365 Tompkins Ave., Brooklyn, NY

365 Tompkins Avenue is a 5-story brownstone located in the Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. The building consists of 6 newly renovated apartments, which are comprised of 2 full walkthroughs and 4 duplexes. Amenities include laundry within the building, roof top deck and a large back yard for quiet enjoyment. For decades, Bed-Stuy has been a cultural center for Brooklyn’s black population.  However, starting from the early 2000’s the neighborhood has begun to experience gentrification, where “yuppies” have been steadily moving into the neighborhood.  This clientele consists of students, 'hipsters', artists, creative professionals, architects and attorneys.  Many of these folks are moving to Bed Stuy because it offers a less expensive alternative to Williamsburg – which has undergone gentrification to unprecedented levels – and it provides an appealing housing stock consisting of brownstone row houses located on quiet tree-lined streets as well as close proximity to Manhattan.  Despite the largest recession to hit the United States in the last 70 years, gentrification continues steadily throughout the neighborhood, if not accelerated by the relatively affordable prices of living in Bed Stuy. The strong community and abundant beautiful brownstone townhouses in the neighborhood contribute to its growth and charm. Since 2008 a score of new cafes, restaurants, bakeries, boutiques, galleries and wine bars have sprung up in the areas, and this trend should continue moving forward. The average real estate price has more than doubled in this neighborhood since 2000, and we believe that the area will continue to gentrify and property values will continue to increase.
